The Victory Diner, 190 Hampshire St. near Inman Square in Cambridge, circa 1968 photograph by Larry Cultera courtesy of Dirty Old Boston.
Do you crave a time when Cambridge was affordable to live in? Do you long for the days of pre-gentrification when both Cambridge and Boston were a lot less picturesque and a little more gritty? Even though those days are long gone, retired Boston School Teacher Jim Botticelli has started a cult hit with his Facebook Page, Dirty Old Boston. Botticelli and his fellow contributor Alex Piandes started the site to reminisce about the more dilapidated, run down, and less sterile feel of Boston and now have close to 25,000 followers, many of whom post their own photos, help identify others, and comment. Read more about the project here.
We’d love to see Dirty Old Cambridge better represented. If you have pictures, go post them. We can’t even picture where the Victory Diner was on Hampshire. Times have changed!

I’ve been here since 1978 and, regrettably, don’t remember the place. My guess is that it used to be where this small parking lot is today:
