The 1887 Catalog of the Cambridge Public Library

Have you ever wondered what were in the stacks of the Cambridge Public Library over 120 years ago?  Thanks to Google Books, you can now browse through an extensive A-Z listing of all the books in the library from the novel, A Man’s a Man for That, to C. M. Yonge’s A Modern Telemachus.

The Catalog was published with a donation of $250 from the executors of the Thomas Dowse estate.  Thomas Dowse, of Cambridgeport, is known as one of America’s most prodigious book collectors of the nineteenth century.
