Former owner of the Grolier Poetry Book Shop’s Louisa Solano loves dogs. There was always a dog in the shop, greeting Grolier customers. Her dogs were so famous in the Cambridge poetry community that Chris Terrio was prompted to write Mutt Metaphors.
Featured in the piece is Robert Pinsky, who is coming to the main library along with Gail Mazur on Tuesday October 1st at 6:30 p.m. to inaugurate the Cambridge Public Library’s new poetry series. The series is in honor of Louisa Solano, who has made a significant donation to the Cambridge Room, including a substantial collection of signed first editions from members of the Cambridge poetry community as well as material related to the Grolier Poetry Book Shop. The Grolier, founded in 1927, is the oldest continuously run bookstore devoted to selling poetry and poetry criticism.
